Bursting at the seamless

November 22, 2011 by Elliot James

I want to write a few words about my favorite type of setting for photographing models.

It’s nothing.

Nothing at all.

A seamless background is simply a large roll of paper mounted on the set behind the model and pulled down to include the floor that the model is standing on. They’re available in different colors. Blue and red are often used by TSG, but we’ll use other colors and black, white and gray, too.

When I was in my early teens, I loved the work of photographer Peter Gowland. Gowland used a ton of seamless in his photos of beautiful swimsuit girls because he enjoyed simplicity and backgrounds that couldn’t distract the viewer from the reason he was taking the picture. The girl. I feel the same way. That’s what seamless is all about. The models really pop against a bare background! Seamless emphasizes a girl’s every inch because the mind zeroes in on her and her alone.

Add a couch or a chair later on in the shoot and she can do all kinds of advanced things to crank up the heat.

Seamless is also especially good for oily fun.

When shooting a possible magazine cover, seamless is traditionally the way to go.

Seamless can’t replace bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and other locations. Too much use and it loses impact. It doesn’t work with Naughty Neighbors girls. But I think at least one shoot of a busty model should be against seamless, especially the introduction pictorial. Many of my favorite sets were shot on seamless. Here are a few of them.

i totaly agree Elliot, a plain backdrop is awesome and does give an intense focus on the lady in question but other settings are good too…. i like outdoor shoots and bedroom shoots are great as you can imagine the chick is waiting on the bed just for you….. chairs can be fun as theres a whole bunch of things that can be done (bending over it,tits hanging over it etc) but yes Elliot a plain backdrop is awesome as your examples prove but to be honest as far as destractions go once a chick has popped her titties or is easing out of her panties nothing on earth could distract me…. true about a photographer getting it right tho back in the late 90s early 2000s i use to like the work of Rudeboy…… he used to get great angles that not all seemed to do…..

Elliot it is so cool you brought up the importance of photography and even mentioned one. As a teen I too took notice of what I liked and didn’t like from a photographic perspective, as well as the photographer; Ken Marcus, Richard Fegley, Arny Freytag, Suze Randall etc. Of course I was all hot and bothered by the models and their bodies etc…but in truth, I was really charged when there was a synthesis between the model and overall, how the story was told photographically. It’s not a one-size-fits-all deal by any means. Some pictorials had mystery, intrigue, sophistication, travel woven into the sex appeal of the model and some were like, ok honey, show us yer tits..both have their place, but I prefer the more creative and expressive shoots. Yes, the seamless background is a standard and really achieves focus on the beauty and sexiness of the model.

So THAT’S how you call it! I have always thought of it as a great idea, especially as a form to introduce new girls. Please keep it up. 🙂

A very simple & effective technique. No unnecessary or distracting backgrounds, therefore the only focus being a beautiful model showing off her big tits.Totally agree with blackbull1970,every model should do a seamless set.

These type of pics are always my favorite.

Every model in Scoreland should have a set.
