I’d say around 2004, the big change happened and bush started to go out of fashion. If you look at photos from the early ’00’s and back in time, most everyone had some hair, even the professional exotic dancers like Pandora Peaks and Busty BriAnna. Since then, more and more girls, not just models, are completely depilated. There are more products on the market for women to remove hair and it’s encouraged by women’s grooming and styling trend-pushers.
Elliot, you’re right, this is a debate that never seems likely to end. But what sets the hirsute/shaved conflict apart is the seeming vehemence that many on the “shaved” side express. It’s not simply a matter of preference for many of them, it’s a seeming revulsion where body hair is concerned.
As someone on the “pro hair” side, who has worshipped at the altar of early Chloe Vevrier and Clare (oh, yes, I remember her . . . she oozed sexuality), I find that attitude difficult to understand. Biologically, pubic hair is an indicator of sexual maturity. And, yeah, I know all the strawman arguments about hygiene and ending up with a mouthful of hair, but it seems like far too many look upon something that couldn’t be more natural as something disgusting.
I can accept current fashion and practices, that shaving, or at the very least trimming, has become the norm. I don’t begrudge any of those who like their fantasy women to be completely shaved. But it would be nice to see the rhetoric toned down a little around here. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone write “I love an unshorn bush, and I think it’s perverted to see women shave themselves as smooth as a prepubescent girl.” But I do see a lot of comments about lush bushes being disgusting or sickening.
We’ve all got our own thing. It would helps if everyone could accept that fact.
