I remember the very first day Autumn-Jade visited the SCORE Studio in Miami. There was a high-energy vibe in the building. Autumn had never modeled in Miami. All of her videos and pictorials had been shot in London, England. The Alabama girl had been invited on the Boob Cruise, but for some reason or another, she couldn’t attend. I was always depressed about that. Then Autumn dropped out of sight until we located her again (it took several weeks of cold-calling) and invited her to model again. At the time, Autumn was house dancing at the Platinum Place in Memphis, Tennessee. Luckily, she returned our message.
To me, Autumn will always be one of the 20 greatest naturals. I’ve always loved the poses she could get into and her easygoing Southern charm and accent.

You know, maybe I’m a bit sensitive about this subject because I’ve been the editor of SCORE for all but 17 issues since September 2001, but whenever I hear the 1990s described as the Golden Age of big tits–you know, ultra slim ‘n’ stacked girls like SaRenna Lee, Tiffany Towers and Busty Dusty–I get a bit defensive. There’s no denying that the 1990s really was a golden age of super-enhanced girls with impossibly huge tits sitting on top of impossibly tiny waists. Sure, we’ve had some great girls built in that mold since 2001 (Crystal Gunns, Morgan Leigh, Daphne Rosen, Annina, etc.), but for that kind of girl–the kind that regularly appeared on Jenny Jones and Springer–the 2000s can’t hold a candle to the 1990s.
But you know what? When it comes to naturally stacked girls, the 1990s can’t hold a candle to the 2000s. Not even close. And I’m going to take this one step further and say that the mix of girls in the magazine and at SCORELAND is better now than it was in the ’90s. People like to say, “The good old days” and “I remember when,” but our minds tend to play tricks on us. We sometimes think that what we had is better than what we have. I’m sometimes surprised to look back and see that some of my favorite porn girls from the ’70s and ’80s, like Sue Nero, Lisa De Leeuw and Kay Parker, weren’t nearly as busty as I remember them being. Compare any current issue of SCORE to any issue from the ’90s–other than a Boob Cruise issue–and you’ll probably come away saying, “These are the best of times.”
That September ’01 SCORE was my first issue as editor, and it just happened to be the “20 Greatest Naturals” celebration. Well, for September 2011, we’re busy planning another “20 Greatest Naturals” issue, and I’m willing to bet that 15 of the 20 will be from 2001 on. Over the next several months, I’ll give you more details about that issue and how we’re going to arrive at the Top 20. There’ll be voting, etc. And if the past 10 years are any indication, over the next several months, a few more candidates for that list will come along.

Of course, in SCORE and on SCORELAND, we don’t mention a model’s age, the thinking being that it’s not polite to ask a woman her age. Back in “Scorecard” #284 on SCORELAND, we published an email about the topic of girls looking at the camera during a XXX scene with a guy. L.D.R.’s basic gripe was, “Your women have the stuff that dream dates are made of. The first photos of your pictorials are tops. The seduction, if you will. Then you blow it. When every shot has the girl looking into the camera while the stud has his way with her, it makes us feel like losers. That stud represents us. When the girl looks at the stud, she is looking at us, and for that moment in time, she becomes our girlfriend, and that is what makes us want to return to The SCORE Group! Take this as you wish.”
L.D.R.’s letter didn’t generate much response, either point or counterpoint. In plays or movies, when someone looks at the unseen viewer, acknowledging his presence, it’s called breaking “the fourth wall.” The imaginary boundary between play and audience is broken. Woody Allen has done this many times in his movies, like in Annie Hall. Michael Caine did it throughout his movie Alfie. It’s more common on stage than in films, where it’s never been that popular.
We’ve been running a poll about this subject on SCORELAND, and the majority of respondents didn’t agree with L.D.R. We asked, “Do you like it when a model looks at the camera instead of the guy in a hardcore photo shoot?” A big 63% said yes, only 16% answered no and 21% didn’t have a preference either way.
A girl looking at the camera in a hardcore scene can work in different ways. Naturally, in a point-of-view shoot when the camera takes the place of the guy, the model looking into the camera is the most important part of the fantasy logic. A second situation–both guy and girl are shot in third person but she turns her head or her eyes to look directly at the camera, with different types of facial expressions, such as smiling or sexually turned on, extra-excited by someone else looking at her fucking and sucking her partner–is what L.D.R. objected to. He feels that he’s on the outside looking in, “a look but don’t touch” effect. There’s also a third: when the viewer is a peeping Tom spying on a couple and the girl might shoot knowing glances in the direction of the peeper while the guy is unaware.

Most of this applies to still photos. In most third-person hardcore videos, the girls rarely turn to look at and acknowledge the camera.
Personally, I’m a P.O.V. fan. They really pull you into the action. But this doesn’t work all the time. A lot of positions must be seen third-person unless mirrors are used. That’s why mirrored rooms are so big at hot-sheet hotels.

From time to time, I like to poke around SCORELAND and check out the Model Directory.
