Retro Pinups: Chesty and Classy.

There is something about a curvy chick in full-on pinup attire that does something for me. Maybe it’s that as a child, I watched a lot of old movies on public television (We didn’t have cable until the ’90s at my house), and that included lots of old movies with Jayne Mansfield, Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe. I became obsessed with women in cute, little outfits that showed lots of leg and ample bosom. They didn’t appear slutty to me, but rather, they were curvaceous, classy women who seemed to always be

having the time of their lives and could walk into a room and instantaneouly hold the attention of everyone there. They oozed this confident, semi-cheeky sensuality that I thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

In fact, I remember finding a box of slides once in my grandfather’s study, and it was full of half-naked pinups. And although I was old enough to know that these were “dirty pictures,” I was fascinated by these sexy women. I thought that they were amazing in their lingerie and garters. It made such an impression on me that I would, in my adult years, go on to dress this way for fancy events. To me, pinup style is the epitome of hot. I think it’s, well, the cat’s meow. 😉

This shot moved me so much that it landed Hillary the cover of the Dec. '09 issue of V-mag.

Maybe this is why when I do photo edits here at SCORELAND, the pics that I love most are the ones that channel that old Hollywood style I have come to equate with smoldering sexuality. In fact, when doing the photo edits for Voluptuous‘ December 2009 issue, I came across this shot of Hillary Hooterz, who just so happened to be debuting in said issue. When my art director Vanessa and I took a closer look, we both knew that this was THE shot, and we put it on the cover.

Just take a look at Hillary’s beautiful face and heaving cleavage spilling out of that blouse and showing just a peek of her polka-dotted bra. This shot, at least to me, teases and tantalizes and is probably hotter than if she had just posed topless. There is something about a woman who can show her curves and do it in such a way that even though she is fully clothed, you get just as horny as if she were naked. That’s the allure of pinup style, and whenever I see a girl dressed this way (Even when they are dressed in more of a Rockabilly style, which is, like, pinups with lots of tattoos), I am instantly drawn to her.

Just thought I’d share, considering that I confess most of my rack ruminations on here. Are you guys into pinups as much as I am?

xoxo, Maria

    I love London Andrews.

She is a curvy, hourglass, soft-body pin-up without the expected, massive cup size that many other, busty models have. I’m sure there are a few men out there saying, “tits not big enough for her body size.” But for most men, she’s the classic cheesecake pin-up that just has beautiful curves, head-to-toe. Bigger is not always better, and it’s all about how the woman comes together on her own, as an individual, in form, not “against” other women.

My wife is certainly not the thinnest woman with the biggest tits I’ve ever had. She’s just the perfect form I loved the most.

  2. viggo says:

Dave Stevens certainly knew how to draw. A big loss.

  3. Dan says:

@Elliot – Wow, wish I’d met Dave – great talent, sorely missed.

V-Girl Pinup Calendar – In addition to the lovelies who have volunteered above, Add Logan Moss, Sabina Leigh, Samatha 38G, Maria Moore, Renee Ross, Alanna Anderson, Bailey Santana, Dallas Dixon and Lexi Windsor to the mix. I know the heritage here, and I realize that other countries have theirs, but I’m sticking with North American girls for my traditional pinups, esp made up and dressed like Hillary. I believe the word I’m looking for is ‘YOWZA!” “Scudda-ho, scudda hey!”

  4. Rich says:

Even though I never got to meet him formally I think Dave Stevens was a great guy. He was a great artist.

Well if you eventually make a pinup calendar I would love to see the young lady Jenna, Bunny De la Cruz, Rikki Waters, Cherry Brady, Hillary Hooterz, Renee Ross, Kelly Shibari, Angel Gee, Dalene Rio, and who ever you would like to put in there.

  5. Jenna says:

I’d love to be in a shoot with all those babes

  6. Elliot James says:

I knew Dave Stevens (Rocketeer’s creator). Terrific guy. He’s missed.

  7. Hillary_Hooterz says:

@Tom: Thx love, I enjoyed that scene veryyy much … I had a fun time Teasing him with MY banana, and was Happy when I got HIS banana lol =)

  8. Tom says:

A pinup calendar is a great idea. Please put Hillary, Veronica, and Jenna in it. I finally saw the FeedHerFuckHer video featuring Hillary yesterday. Talk about oozing confident sexuality! I love the scene where she is teasing the dude and starts to feed him the banana and then turns it around and pops it in her own mouth. Hillary is the first woman I have ever become aroused by watching her eat. You could probably shoot her brushing her teeth and it would be a turn on.

  9. jenna says:

  18. veronica vaughn says:

I love Pin up shots too:) Very Classy

  19. viggo says:

The Rocketeer is awesome. The comic and the movie.
Starring Jennifer Connelly back in the days when she had a great body.

  20. Maria says:

@Matador: Hmm…I’m not quite sure…do you love Pinups? lol
    @Dan: The bee’s knees, indeed.
@Jack: Ty, Sir. Always nice when you chime in.
@Hillary: Hi! Glad you loved the cover.
@KH: April reminds me of Beth Ditto from the band The Gossip. <3
@Viggo: Wouldn't you like to know, eh? lol
@Tom: Ty very much. I love bringing you guys great girls in every issue.
@Rich: LOVE the Rocketeer comics! (Fantastic for collectors.) And Vargas pinups are my favorites. I often pick out outfits and styles based on the Vargas girls' looks and try and replicate them. Very classy. Thumbs up!

  21. Rich says:

I personally love pin up photos and artwork. There is just some thing timeless, and yet classy and sexy. I just love the art of pinup everthing the shoes, outfits, and especially the hair style and makeup of the women. I first fell in love with the whole pin up style when I first saw Bettie Page as a character in my brothers old Rockateer comics when I was 7 years old. Soon I fell in love with the artwork of Alberto Vargas. Pinups are just the best in my book.

Oh yeah and Bunny De La Cruz is awesome in her pick but she is always awesome.

  22. Tom says:

Absolutely! I love the pinup style, as well as the examples you chose. I never thought about why, but I watched a lot of those same old movies too. You don’t see many women today that ooze that same confident sensuality. London and Hillary are two models that do in their photos. Maria, I sure am glad to have you as the editor of my favorite magazine (Voluptuous). You understand what I like and give it to me every month.

  23. viggo says:

    Two thumbs up,Maria.
I love pinups. The women in the movies from the 40s and the 50s
    they just look amazing.

By the way, here in Norway we have a popsicle called Pinup.
So Maria, how many pinups have you licked this year? 😉

  24. kh says:

Speaking of busty pinups, any possibility V-mag could end up with April Flores gracing its pages some day soon?

  25. Dan says:

Agree 100 percent on the Hillary shot = the green outfit, the skin tone, the hair color and lipstick all scream pinup shot. Thanks so much for making that the cover.
And, not that Hillary needs wizards, but the Score Group makeup artists are “the bee’s knees!”

  26. Hillary_Hooterz says:

I was so Excited to see myself on the cover of the Decmeber Issue of V-mag but way more excited it was one of my favorite “Themed” Pictures “The Clasic Pin-Up Look” .. I had a blast doing the “F-cup Flirt” Pictures and glad everyone is enjoying them =) and I most say Bunny looks Freakin HOT in that shot !! xoxo Happy Holidays everyone

  27. Jack says:

    Hey Maria,

As usual, I could nto agree wtih you more … classy, pin-up style photos of busty women really is the cat’s meow 🙂

I hope we see more photo shoots in Score/Voluptuous that start out with this dress and style for our vbeloved models … very retro and all great classic style !

  28. Matador says:

    Hi Maria,

    Concerning your question…

I LOVE PINUPS! I FREAKIN’ LOVE ‘EM!

There is something about the tease, the allure, the classic poses of a pinup, that just blows me away. Pinups have a look in their eyes that is so confident and so sexy. I like the above photo of Hillary and I agree that it’s a terrific shot but I REALLY like the one of Daphne. The tight top, the straight skirt with the cinched in waist, her extreme hourglass figure — wow.

But in case I forgot to mention it, yeah, I LOVE PINUPS!
