Brittany Love graced the cover of SCORE’s first ‘New Millenium” issue.

The January 2000 edition of SCORE went on-line at SCORELAND on December 17, 1999 with pictorials of Brittany Love (covergirl and first photo set), debutante Daizie Kellogg, exotic dancers Amber Waves and Chrissy Lynn Peaks, super-sized B.B. Gunns from Philadelphia, porn star Carolyn Monroe, curvy newcomer Cindy Cupps and bra-destroyer Kayla Kleevage courageously tackling the organ of Ron “The Hedgehog” Jeremy. (The photos were black-dotted in the newsstand magazine. Uncensored hardcore officially started in April ’00.)

B.B. rode the super-sized wave in 2000 like Maxi Mounds and others.

January ’00 marked the beginning of SCORE‘s longtime association with Brittany and Cindy. They’ve both made many videos at our studio since. The 1999 SCORE Newcomer of the Year Contest was announced with 35 girls entered. The winner was announced in the May ’00 issue. Does anyone remember who won?

Other sections included Reader Art by Jerry Haines from South Carolina and feature dancer Alyssa Alps was all over the USA in her “On The Road” column. The SCORE Model Directory listed the mailing addresses of the more accessible models. Email and the Net have made this list of post office boxes more or less obsolete.

If you’re a print magazine collector, here’s some publishing trivia. January ’00 was the last of the “perfect bound” issues, meaning the cover is glued to the pages and has a flat spine. Beginning with the February ’00 edition (a massive 164 page issue), SCORE would now be stapled through the centerfold, or “saddle-stitched” as book-binders call the process. The next step began with January ’03 SCORE when the exact copy of the newsstand magazine itself went on-line through Virtual-Newsstand.com. We were one of the first men’s mag publishers to try it, and it’s updated every issue. Check it out if you’ve never seen how an actual magazine looks on your monitor. Very cool.

That Brittany Love is perhaps the finest example of the female form I have ever seen. What curves! That must be who Jessica Rabbit was modeled after, for she is sexy and fine!

As far as Ron, “The Hedgehog” Jeremy, I just happened to finish reading his autobiography, Ron Jeremy: The Hardest (working) Man in Show Business, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It turns out that reason he is called “The Hedgehog” is because it was bestowed upon him by Bill Margold (a porn actor and director) after an incident on the set of Olympic Fever, shot in 1979. Jeremy flew in from New York to shoot the movie, dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, expecting warm weather. During his motorcycle ride to the set, located near Lake Arrowhead in the California mountains, the weather deteriorated to blizzard conditions, which chilled him to the point of hypothermia. Upon arriving at the set, Jeremy was immediately whisked away to warm up in a hot shower. When he finished, his skin had taken on a pink hue from the temperature extremes, and the hairs on his body were standing on end. Margold’s comment upon seeing Jeremy after the shower was, “You are a hedgehog, my friend. A walking, talking hedgehog.” Contrary to popular belief, the nickname had nothing to do with Jeremy’s (subsequent) weight gain, as he was quite physically fit at the time.

I just thought that was interesting trivia.

What ever became of Daisy Kellogg?
    She was a fox.

I don’t know. We haven’t heard from her in a long time. I think her last pictorial for us was in Looker magazine.

  13. viggo says:

Wow this brings back memories. This was the very first issue of Score
    that i bought.
I still love that pic of Brittany Love. It’s one of the best covers that you’ve ever had.
It’s only rival would be the cover where Kerry Marie was laying in the
pool wearing that red bra and nylon.

You should have some more covers where there’s only one big pic
and no smaller pics on the sides. The cover above is a bit more ‘classy’, isn’t it?
Maybe you also could have a poll, and let the readers vote for the best cover.
Altough, looking at the decades best model voting, it might be a smart
thing to let the people working in Score choose.
