The Great Weight Debate
So, it’s awards time round the V-Mag headquarters, and everyone has voting fever. I get tons of emails all day long with people’s votes and opinions and honorable mentions. I will say that the race is a tight one and that even I am getting caught up in the frenzy. While I could chat for hours about how the results are going and who the forerunners are, I will not. (I don’t want to spoil the fun for anyone. So stay tuned for the results in the June 2010 issue of V-Mag, boys.)
However, I will talk about one of the serious contenders for V-Mag Plumper of the Year, and that lady happens to be Sapphire. Not only is she the only model to have swept this category for three years in a row, she is also a Voluptuous and XL Girls favorite, and there isn’t a week that goes by that we don’t get letters about this lovely ginger.
Now, while I only recently met Sapphire on the set of My Big, Plump Wedding, (I was one of the guests at the wedding. 😉 ) I have seen her photos for years while working at SCORE and have seen her evolution from slim newcomer to Plumper legend.
Well, today I was talking about Sapphire with a few people in the office (We were discussing what would happen if she won the Plumper of the Year award for the fourth time), and we got into what I will call the Great Weight Debate. You see, some of the staff remember and prefer Sapphire when she was a slim and stacked redhead in the pages of V-Mag’s July ’03 issue. And some of them say that she came into her own when she returned to V-Mag as a Plumper, like in the V-Mag June ’08 issue.
Now, I am not an expert here, but to me, what it boils down to is tit power. Sure, Sapphire had big boobs when she was slimmer, but her boobs are even BIGGER now that she is a little heavier, and that, to me, is why I prefer her as a plumper. (But then again, I am a curvy girl myself, so I am biased.) And although I appreciate all of her curves, for some of the guys in the office, her fuller frame doesn’t cut it.
We could have discussed this for hours, but I suggested that we take it to the masses, which is why I am going to ask you guys.

I’m late to posting, and really need to read your blog with more frequency.
I’m going to preface this by saying I’m generally not a “plumper” lover, which I’ll call a big beautiful woman (BBW). I know that will cause some to stop reading right now, but there’s a point to this. It has nothing to do with weight, but statistics. Statistically women of European decent (which are the majority in western mags for argument’s sake) are 80% straight or spoon shaped. Only 20% are apple or hourglass, in cat only 8% are hourglass. So, statistically, most BBWs are the former, and the market caters to such, especially spoon. Women with massive, not bubble butts, the bigger, the better, hence the focus on spoon, which includes quite a great number of women who are not very busty for their size.
For myself, I love women of apple and hourglass shapes. And that means I love them the same, thinner or thick. In facter, it’s not about weight, but width in my case. The more extreme the curves, especially the wider her chest and hips, the happier I am. Sure, I can cite countless models of 36-24-36″ curvature that I find beautiful, what some would call “perfect model proportions” at 5’5″-5’8″. Heck, some even call that “thick” or “big,” especially those that complain about hips or thighs that are anything other than skinny, which makes me laugh. No, my idea of “model perfection” is a very wide, but slender, full figured woman (FFW) with full, additional 4″ — 40-28-40″ — from the continuing legacy and graceful form of Chloe Vevrier to today’s, 2009 Model of the Year Karina Hart. It’s not the breasts, but the body — the breasts are just a bonus.
Which brings me back to BBWs.
Men might talk and debate, and American television certainly excels at repeatly marketing things to us with what they believe we want. But let’s face it, what men ultimately want is intimacy. When I mentioned I love a woman the same, thin or thick, that’s not true in person. I want my apple and hourglass shaped lovers as wide and thick as I can have them. I want the bust and mid-section “plumping” past 40″ and 30″, respectively. I have always loved Autumn-Jade at her absolute thickest and while I have openly stated that beautiful Kerry Marie has crossed beyond her hourglass, FFW modeling ideal, God knows I’d love to lay with her at her thickest as well (even as her stomach buldges out from the weight).
I have no preference for height, just the buldging, extreme proportions. Give me stocky, top-heavy apples like Devyn Devine, Anna Carlene (aka Billie Bombs) and Angelina Vallery at 5’3″ and under (the three of which collectively remind me of my top-heavy, apple Italian wife). And I want to be overpowered by pure, oversized, mega-curvy, hourglass mammazons like Strawberry-Blonde Laura Orsolya and my ’90s favorite hardcore starlet, firey redhead Georgina Lempin. To embrace, entangle and group every ounce of that flowly flesh with every appendage I sport. To oogle the thinner (while still oversized) mid-section, not just because it is drapped by a massive overhanging bust, but fangs out to a full, wide set of hips, succelent ass and thick, powerful, riding thighs below.
So when you say “what it boils down to is tit power,” I can’t deny I don’t go for BBWs that are straight, let alone spoon shaped, and have more full ass than breasts. A necessary ingredient to a BBW is that she has some seriously thick chest and hangers. But it’s the form of the woman, a top-heavy apple or a matching set of hips with a nice weight distribution in width, that drives me nuts. So yes, the more she thickens up, the better it gets when it comes to making love for myself. But it’s not just because she’s maximized her breasts. It’s the entire body that is a treasure to experience.
Because anyone who knows me that I consider Chloe Vevrier and Karina Hart to the most perfect, voluptuous, hourglass models I’ve ever seen. But when it comes to wanting an eternal lover, Maria Moore’s hourglass BBW body and spicy, silly brunette toping look and attitude that tops my list. I’m just happy that Score, Voluptuous and XLGirls keep giving us a great number of top-heavy, plump apple and wide, plump hourglass figures, and not just more of the massive ass spoons that seem to dominate others.
How does Sapphire feel about it? I know the “debate” is supposed to be about skinny versus heavy or rotund versus slim, but it seems to have become about Sapphire.
Gaining that much weight isn’t something that happens without reason. Baby fat? Emotional needs being sublimated by food? And there may be physical health issues involved (diabetes, heart disease). And let’s not forget that some people can be cruel about weight. And porn.
I’m not trying to come off as judgmental. There’s no question I appreciate her visual appeal (then and now). But whether or not she looks good to me, the important thing is that she is happy and healthy. For those of us who claim to care for her (which, in our way, we do), that should be our primary concern.
And I’d really love to know how she feels about our discussion.
Sapphire looks better with the extra wt. Her body can handle the wt. and her boobs look fantastic.
My wife was built like the 03 pic, and now carries more, and we are all happier. Fuller breasts, thicker hips, just more to hold on to on cold nights. You all know what I mean.

I definitely prefer Sapphire heavier. She carries the extra weight well. Even though her boobs may be bigger, they appear in better proportion to the rest of her body. She has her work cut out for her this year going against Hillary and Bailey. Did anybody capture Veronica pleasuring Sapphire on film? I’d stand in line to see that.
I much prefer the current version of Sapphire. My preference is for larger women in general and while I think Sapphire is beautiful both “before” and “after” I prefer her current, softer, curvier shape.
My vote would go to Hillary as well. On Sapphire, I’d also say the bigger version is better 🙂

Sapphire’s beautiful at any size, but for my boner, make her a plumper. Honestly, though, I’d have trouble making a pick in 09 for Plumper of the Year. While the past few years, Sapphire has gotten my vote without question, I think that Hillary Hooterz might deserve the crown more this time around. Guess we’ll see.
I had the pleasure of chatting with her a few times online. She is very down to earth. Wheather or not you prefer her slimmer or plumper is not the issue here as I see it. You’re never going to get a difinitive answer. The true answer is that she is who she is. She is Sapphire, who belongs in Voluptuous, and is very qualified to win reguardless of what size she is. The issue could arise if she ever got a “lift” someday because the ground rules were set when Julia Miles was banned from V-mag for that reason. By the same thought process, my wife who is plus size, had 700cc silicone implants(and is thinking 1300cc saline next), would be an XL girl, and maybe a Score girl(if I can convince her), but not V-mag girl.
I love her bigger, but she was very hot smaller too. I think with her a little plumper her boobs aren’t as outrageous. I mean when she was skinny her huge breasts looked absolutely obscene, and hot 😉 Now that she is filled out a little more her, and still gorgeous, her breasts are a little more in line with her size. Either way, she is amazing, god those redheads do it to me everytime 🙂
