The melon connection

Melons are very healthy for you.

When I was in my teens, I knew a girl in my neighborhood nicknamed Melons. She used to wear tight clothes in the spring and summer and seeing her walk was always a special sight. Sadly for me, Melons and I never had a really fruitful relationship. She liked another guy better. I don’t know what happened to Melons, but I sometimes think of her when I’m at the produce department of my supermarket.

Roxi’s melons are incomparable.

Melons, an old French word, is the kind of word that rolls off the tongue. Melons was a Greek slang word for a girl’s breasts. Korean slang for huge tits is soobak or “watermelon chest.” The connection between boobs and melons is actually more complex than a nickname. In 1999, the Tesco supermarket chain in the UK asked its suppliers to grow smaller melons after a female focus group revealed that people subconsciously bought melons based on social trends in boob sizes. Smaller breasts were popular at the time. An all-male group yielded the same results. Melon sales soared. Seven of 10 females said breast size was a “subconscious factor when picking the size of melons.” Five of 10 said it was a conscious thought when buying melons.

My question is: What kind of melons do very big-boobed girls buy?

Michelle is a happy melon packer.
