Maybe it’s my imagination, but the tube top, one of the most beloved garments among big-boob lovers, seems to be making another comeback.

Okay, so maybe I’ve been missing something and tube tops have been in style for the past 11 years. But I don’t think so. I think when I notice a boob-related fashion trend, it’s a recent trend. Like I said, I look at tits a lot.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding, let’s define tube top. According to Wikipedia, “a tube top is is a shoulderless, sleeveless ‘tube’ that wraps the torso. Such a top is generally very tight over the breasts in order to prevent the garment from falling. This is usually achieved with elastic bands at the top and bottom of the garment.”A tube top should never be confused with a halter top, which has a strap that wraps around the neck, preventing any possibility of boob spillage, or a tube top one-piece bathing suit, which actually has a bottom that wraps around the crotch, also making boob spillage unlikely.
A proper tube top has no straps and no bottom. When you see a girl wearing a tube top, you have a reaction similar to when you see a suspension bridge: “What’s holding that thing up?” Basically, with a proper tube top, if you walked up to a girl and tugged on the bottom of the garment, her tits would pop out (and you’d get arrested, so don’t do that, although I recall a mainstream movie–I don’t remember which one–in which that happened).

So, obviously, that’s not why we love tube tops. I love tube tops because of 1.) One of the most important parts of my job as editor of V-mag is planning the cover of each issue. It is a labor of love because, first of all, I get to stare at some of the most excellent hotties of all time, and second of all, I find picking out a cover shot to be really exciting. They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but I like to think that when Vanessa (my art director for V-mag!) and I create each issue’s cover, we are asking to be judged. Our job is to make sure that we convey all of the hotness and bountiful boob flesh that await you inside of each issue. It is not a task that we take lightly.
Over the years, I have seen covers come and go, and while I probably shouldn’t say that I have favorites, I do. There are certain covers that just stand out in my mind and I like better than others. One of those covers is from the July 2009 issue of V-mag. There is something about that shot of Shyla Shy with her ass looking just so that makes me happy. I am also particular to the June 2010 cover featuring Karina Hart and her fabulous tits with the nipples starred out. I like her smile, and the entire cover works for me. (It is actually one of the most-fun covers Vanessa and I have worked on.) But my ultimate favorite is the recent February 2011 cover featuring Ashley Sage in a schoolgirl getup. Back in October, I told you about the “20 Greatest Naturals” voting going on in SCORE magazine, in which we’re asking readers to choose their favorite naturals of the SCORE years. Now, before you start complaining that your favorite isn’t on the ballot, you should know that write-in votes were permitted and encouraged.
Anyway, the ballots have been pouring in (which pleasantly surprises me because filling out a ballot with 20 names, including write-ins, takes some time, effort and knowledge). And, so far, a few things stand out:
1. Counting these ballots is interesting, but it’s a pain in the ass.
2. One model has been named on every ballot except one. EVERY BALLOT. Guess who?
3. Danni Ashe, whose tits definitely are not among the largest naturals ever, is getting a lot of support.
4. The top five vote-getters are (in no particular order) Chloe Vevrier, Christy Marks, Linsey Dawn McKenzie, Merilyn Sakova and Karina Hart.
5. Judging from some of the write-in votes, some guys can’t tell a natural from an augmented pair of tits.
5. Of the 65 girls who have received votes, only 19 have had full sex on camera.
6. The battle for spots 11-20 in the new “20 Greatest Naturals” is going to be very close.

The votes are starting to come in from the online voting for the 2010 SCORE Awards (the votes have been pouring in for a while now from the magazine readers), and I have to admit, I’m a little surprised. Usually, I have a pretty good idea how the voting is going to go (no surprise that Karina Hart won Model of the Year last year, Christy Marks the year before), but this year? I thought I had a clue. Turns out I didn’t.
Now, I’m not going to give you any details (that wouldn’t be fair because it might affect how things transpire between now and January 1, when the polls close, but I will tell you this:
For SCORE Newcomer of the Year, we seem to have a five-way race, and there seems to be at least a chance that we’ll see a Newcomer of the Year first.
For SCORE Model of the Year, the race seems to be between six girls, and the leader changes from day-to-day. There’s also a good chance that we’ll see a Model of the Year first.
For the Big-Boob Hall of Fame, I was pretty sure that votes would come pouring in for Crystal Gunns, and they are, but they’re also pouring in for six others models, too. This might’ve been one of those years when we should have inducted two models, but we’ll stick with the rules and induct one.

The January ’11 issue of SCORE isn’t officially scheduled to go on sale until November 2, but apparently, the issue has already found its way into several readers’ hands. That’s not surprising. Our subscriber fulfillment department mails out issues as soon as they get them, and many retailers don’t wait until the official on-sale date to put the latest mag on the racks (which is why you sometimes see more than one issue of SCORE or Voluptuous for sale at the same time).
Anyway, the reason I know the January ’11 issue is on-sale is that it’s our annual awards issue, and votes for 2010 Newcomer of the Year, 2010 Model of the Year and the SCORE Big-Boob Hall of Fame are already starting to pour in. Voting will start in the members area of SCORELAND sometime in mid-November.

One more FYI: Eagle-eyed boob men will realize that Angelina Castro debuted in 2009 and is somehow eligible for 2010 Newcomer of the Year. That’s because the difference between Angelina now (super-sized) and Angelina then is so drastic, by all intents and purposes, she’s a newcomer.
You know, maybe I’m a bit sensitive about this subject because I’ve been the editor of SCORE for all but 17 issues since September 2001, but whenever I hear the 1990s described as the Golden Age of big tits–you know, ultra slim ‘n’ stacked girls like SaRenna Lee, Tiffany Towers and Busty Dusty–I get a bit defensive. Compare any current issue of SCORE to any issue from the ’90s–other than a Boob Cruise issue–and you’ll probably come away saying, “These are the best of times.”
That September ’01 SCORE was my first issue as editor, and it just happened to be the “20 Greatest Naturals” celebration. Well, for September 2011, we’re busy planning another “20 Greatest Naturals” issue, and I’m willing to bet that 15 of the 20 will be from 2001 on. Over the next several months, I’ll give you more details about that issue and how we’re going to arrive at the Top 20. There’ll be voting, etc. And if the past 10 years are any indication, over the next several months, a few more candidates for that list will come along.
